    Is Your Baby a Future Face of Maine?

    Every Maine baby under one year of age is eligible to become an Alfond Baby and receive a $500 grant for higher education from the Harold Alfond® College Challenge. To celebrate this lasting gift to Maine, all Maine babies under age one are invited to attend a Casting Call to find the Future Faces of Maine. A professional photographer will take a free photograph of your baby - and your baby's picture may be selected to be in future Alfond Grant marketing!

     

    You can complete the NextGen account application to receive the Alfond Grant while at the event. We'll have people to help. Remember to bring social security numbers (or taxpayer IDs, passports or alien registration cards) for you, your baby, and spouse if applicable.

    is the lasting gift of Harold Alfond who believed every Maine baby should have the opportunity to pursue education beyond high school.

     

    The Alfond Grant is awarded to a NextGen account. Other terms and conditions apply. NextGen is a Section 529 plan administered by Finance Authority of Maine (FAME). Before you invest in NextGen, request a NextGen Program Description from your Maine bank or financial advisor, or call FAME at 1-800-228-3734 and read it carefully. The Program Description contains more complete information, including investment objectives, charges, expenses and risks of investing in NextGen, which you should carefully consider before investing. You also should consider whether your home state or your designated beneficiary's home state offers any state tax or other benefits that are only available for investments in such state's 529 plan.  Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, a registered broker-dealer, Member SIPC, is the program manager and underwriter.

    Every Maine baby is eligible for a $500 Alfond Grant - all you need to do is open a NextGen® account on or before the baby's first birthday!

     

    Don't wait 'til it's too late! If you've started to sign up and need help, visit the Harold Alfond® College Challenge table at the Maine Mall, outside JCPenney, on April 6th or 7th, 12 noon to 5pm each day.

     

    We'll be there to help you finish (or start!) the paperwork to get your baby his or her $500 Alfond Grant. Remember to bring social security numbers (or taxpayer IDs, passports or alien registration cards) for you, your baby, and spouse if applicable.
